Just installed Mint but got no WiFi

Hello, I know nothing about computers or linux. I just know linux is what i should be learning to be free of apple and windows hardware-software restrictions.

So i installed mint 19 to a toshiba (AMD) laptop and got rid of the windows OS that was on it. So far, only problem is the wifi.
When i ejected the usb that i used to install mint and restarted the laptop, there are no wifi connections available.
I went to the Driver Manager on the mint menu and saw this:

"Failed to download repository information"

also says no proprietary drivers in use" at the bottom of the Driver manager.

P.S. when the usb is ejected, driver manager tries to update cache and comes up with nothing. it only says "Failed to download repository information" and at the bottom of the driver manager window it says "no proprietary drivers are in use". It also shows some details i can click on, but not when the usb is inserted.
I'll copy and paste what the details say once i finish this post. I had to re-insert the usb to get wifi of course. Thanks in advance for looking into this problem'latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=Cg0sWZn8bnQ:5-oOLVGsjZI:F7zBnMy latest?i=Cg0sWZn8bnQ:5-oOLVGsjZI:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=Cg0sWZn8bnQ:5-oOLVGsjZI:gIN9vFwCg0sWZn8bnQ
