Bad beats: Tulane shocks the world, DJ Moore sinks under bettors

Another week brings another collection of gut-wrenching bad beats for football bettors.

There's a reason we wait until Monday to release these. Hopefully, if you were on the wrong end of one or more of these outcomes, you've had enough time to hit the reset button.

As always, if you bet on any of these, our sincerest condolences.

Houston 31, Tulane 38

Bad beat: Houston +5.5

Week 1 of the college football season had some bad beats, starting with Stanford covering over Northwestern and Auburn over Oregon.

But this? This is just painful.

At one point, Houston was up 28-7. Then it all unraveled.

Tulane ripped off 24 unanswered points to go up 31-28, then the Cougars tied it up with a late field goal - after dropping the go-ahead touchdown. Hey Houston bettors, want to lose this game in overtime? No, you'll lose in regulation on the most electric two-play sequence of the season.

This is the best college football play of the season. Tulane with the fake kneel. Absolute brilliance! And they won on the next play! #Tulane pic.twitter.com/0RlG9ja1xF

Jalen McCleskey - who certainly does not care about your Cougars ticket - just called blouses.

Florida International 31, Louisiana Tech 43

Bad beat: Florida International +7

Spoiler alert: I was on this, and never have I been so unfazed by an outcome. I sincerely knew it was coming.

FIU trailed 36-24 late but sliced through a prevent defense in the final minute, scoring a would-be backdoor touchdown to make it 36-31. Following a penalty, the Golden Panthers lined up on their own 20-yard line for an onside kick.

Please, just fall on it and take a knee.

Or don't, whatever.

It still hurts three days later.

Panthers 38, Cardinals 20

Bad beat: First-half under 21.5

The Panthers tied the Cardinals up 7-7 in the early stages of the second quarter, only to go 10-plus minutes without a score thereafter. If you had the first-half under in this one, we'll pour one out for you considering how it finished.

After Arizona kicked a field goal with roughly one minute left in the second quarter, first-half bettors could have spotted Carolina a field goal. How about a little three-deep coverage here, Cardinals?

Kyle Allen hits DJ Moore for the 52-yard TD.

That is a bad, bad man.

Texans 27, Chargers 20

Bad beat: Over 48

The gambling gods only give you one chance to cash a bet on a game-winning drive. I don't make the rules.

So when the Chargers were driving late in the fourth in an attempt to tie the Texans, this throw from Philip Rivers to Travis Benjamin was the best shot.

How?

The Chargers wound up turning the ball over on downs. But you already knew that was coming.
