Caja browser - how to get a "browse" option when moving or copying a file?
by grumpyskeptic from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4R7JQ)
I have installed Linux Mint 19.2 Tina Mate on a "new" recycled computer. I was surprised that when I wanted to move a file, the default Caja browser offered a menu with only two options:
"Home folder
Desktop"
Where is the browse option? On my older computer that I currently use I have a very large number of files, mostly academic pdfs, sorted into a complex and large hierarchy of folders. So being offered only two places to move a file to is silly.
I tried creating dummy files in a dummy file hierarchy, in the hope that Caja would then offer a browse option, but it did not.
How do I get a browse option when moving or copying a file?
If I cannot get a browse option then I will have to consider installing Linux Mint Cinnamon instead, and hope that the newest version of Nemo is not as buggy or as slow as it is on this older computer, when Nemo often takes literally over half-an hour to copy say a hundred small files.
