DVD unreadable_.VOB files

Hi,
I would like to look matrix trilogy !!!:)
i had installed smplayer and vlc
I can't read the DVDs.:banghead:
By looking the files, I see that movies' files have a .vob extension ???
and i think that these kind of extension isn't supported by both sotwares.
True ?
what can I do ?
