vSENS is an "electronic nose" that can detect trace amounts of chemical gases and vapors. The device uses nanofibers to rapidly detect chemicals, such as pesticides and bomb-making materials, with a sensitivity in the parts-per-trillion range. The manufacturer of vSENS, Utah-based Vaporsens, suggests the device could be used for everything from food safety to security. vSENS is scheduled for release in late 2015.
