Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith will be sidelined indefinitely after he wasn't acting like himself around the team's facilities for the past week or so, sources told ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

The Bears will reportedly allow Smith to take time to deal with what the team describes as a "personal issue."

The 2018 first-round pick was downgraded to doubtful shortly before Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings and didn't suit up.

On Monday, Bears head coach Matt Nagy refused to go into detail about Smith's absence.

"Again, he's completely a personal issue," Nagy said. "For us, it's something that we're gonna leave it at that right now."

Pressed further, Nagy added that he wouldn't speak about Smith's situation "out of respect."

The 22-year-old was on the sideline during the Bears' 16-6 victory Sunday.

Smith led Chicago in tackles (122) as a rookie after being taken eighth overall, and he's a key part of the NFC North club's dominant defense. Nick Kwiatkoski replaced him against the Vikings.
