Karlsson family welcomes baby girl

San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson and his wife Melinda celebrated the birth of their daughter on Thursday.

To my beautiful wife for doing everything in her power to bring our beautiful little baby girl in to this world, never have I met a more determined or stronger person than you. It hasn't been easy but after the rain finally our little rainbow arrived. Love you both more than I could ever imagine.

Karlsson missed the Sharks' season opener against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday due to what was officially listed as a personal matter.

The 29-year-old blue-liner inked an eight-year extension with the Sharks in June.
