The NFL Players Association filed grievances against the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders on Antonio Brown's behalf Friday, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The free-agent wideout is reportedly seeking to recoup roughly $40 million in unpaid salary, fines, and voided guarantees.

Brown's appeal likely won't be heard by an arbitrator until spring, and he's facing "a major uphill battle" to win his case, added Rapoport.

The troubled receiver is apparently looking to recoup the $29 million the Raiders guaranteed him for 2019 and 2020 and a $9-million signing bonus from the Patriots, among other payments.

The NFL is currently investigating Brown after he was accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit. New England released the 31-year-old following reports that he allegedly attempted to intimidate one of his accusers via text message.
