Keyboard not working

HP All-in-One desktop with Premax wireless keyboard.
I installed MX Linux (together with Ubuntu 19.04, dual booting with Windows 10 home version).
In both Ubuntu as well as Windows I have no problem using the keyboard. However, I have no response at all from the keyboard when switching to MX.
I'm a total Linux newbie - please let me know if more information is required for a fix.
