Tom Brady has defended his bizarre surprise cameo in Netflix's new comedy series "Living With Yourself" starring Paul Rudd that's led to connections to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's legal issues.

Main character Miles Elliot - played by Rudd - spots the New England Patriots quarterback while contemplating whether to go through with an experimental spa treatment in the show's first episode.

"First time?" a smiling Brady asks Elliot after exiting the spa parlor.

"Uh-huh. You?" Elliot responds.

Brady shakes his head and replies, "Six," referencing the number of Super Bowls he's won.

On Saturday, an angry Brady said the clip was "taken out of context" and clarified the plot was written four years ago.

"It's not what that was about," Brady said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "I think that was taken out of context just like you're taking it out of context and trying to make it a story for yourself, which has a negative connotation to it, which I don't appreciate."

The quarterback said that the scene was shot on a green screen. He added that "it's unfortunate that people would choose to think I would do something like that about Mr. Kraft."

Brady's cameo is notable because of Kraft's ongoing legal matter after he was among 25 men charged in February with soliciting prostitution at Orchids of Asia Spa in Jupiter, Fla.

Kraft pleaded not guilty to his two misdemeanor charges, rejecting a plea deal in favor of a jury trial.

"Living with Yourself" creator Timothy Greenberg told Lea Palmieri of Decider that Brady was his first choice for the cameo, though the quarterback agreeing to it was surprising.

"He was a great sport," Greenberg said. "I just don't know why he did it."

"So we're like, 'Alright, this is clearly not going to happen now,'" said Greenberg of Brady's appearance after Kraft's charges in an interview with Refinery29's Shannon Carlin.

Brady didn't connect the dots, or think the scene would directly or indirectly reference Kraft's scandal, a source told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.
