14.2/x86_64: desktop cannot reach printer on LAN
by rshepard from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4T0Z3)
My old desktop server/workstation died last Friday night. The replacement was about 95% ready; now it needs to be 100% ready. But, trying to print, or ping the printer, says it's not reachable. Both are hosts on the LAN; the desktop is 192.168.55.1 and the LaserJet5 is 192.168.55.192.
Both the old and new desktops connect to the router via cat5 Ethernet cable. The router is connected to a bridge and printers and laptops are connected to the bridge.
When pinging the result is that the host is not reachable. This was never an issue with the old desktop and I'm at a loss how to diagnose the cause and how to fix this problem. I need to process vendor payments so accessing the printer is a high priority.
For more information, ask.
Regards,
Rich
