Doug Pederson indicated Wednesday the Philadelphia Eagles are prioritizing an acquisition for the defensive line ahead of the trade deadline.

"We understand our injury situation, especially at defensive line," the fourth-year head coach told reporters. "So if we just start there, let's say, and look and see what's available, see what we can do.

"But we're going to do what's best for the Philadelphia Eagles, as you know. I think that's where we start. To answer the question, yes, (general manager) Howie (Roseman) and I have had conversation."

The Eagles have been ravaged by injuries all year long, particularly on defense. The line struggled to absorb injuries to Malik Jackson and Timmy Jernigan, and that was before Hassan Ridgeway joined them on the shelf in Week 7. Perennial Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox has only one sack through seven games.

"He sees the same injuries that we see, and he knows the bind that we're in at certain positions," Pederson said of his GM. "He's constantly, with his team of guys, working to find players that are out there, whether they're on other teams' practice rosters or with the trade deadline coming up, if it's through that, whatever it might be."

The secondary has also been an issue, and it has suffered from its fair share of injuries. The Eagles reportedly offered the Jacksonville Jaguars a first- and second-round pick for Jalen Ramsey before he was shipped to the Los Angeles Rams.
