Jaguars' Minshew 'can't really worry' about Foles' potential return
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles is reportedly nearing a return to the field, but his fill-in, rookie Gardner Minshew, says his focus is elsewhere.
"It's something I can't really worry about right now," Minshew said Wednesday when asked about Jacksonville's budding quarterback controversy on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football."
"Every halfway competitive guy ever, you want to be the guy out there helping your team win. There is no doubt about that," Minshew continued. "But at the end of the day, we just want to win, and whatever we've got to do to make it happen, we're going to do it."
Minshew was plunged into action just 10 plays into the season when Foles broke his clavicle.
"I knew at some point I'd get an opportunity to play. I didn't think it would be the first quarter of the first game. ... But I've been trying to do my job. A lot of guys have been working hard," Minshew added.
The 23-year-old Washington State product has endeared himself to football fans with his quirky wardrobe choices and on-field improvisation, leading the Jaguars to a surprising 4-4 record.

On the season, Minshew has thrown for 1,976 yards with 13 touchdown passes against just two interceptions. The sixth-round pick became the first Jaguars rookie to throw three touchdowns in a game during the squad's 29-15 win over the New York Jets in Week 8.
Minshew will make his eighth start when the Jaguars take on the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium. With Foles targeting a Week 11 return and Jacksonville on bye in Week 10, Sunday morning's divisional tilt could be the last we see of Minshew Mania this season.
