South Africa surge to Rugby World Cup glory as England fall short

Tries from Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin Kolbe sealed a third Rugby World Cup triumph for South Africa as Rassie Erasmus's side broke English hearts with a near-flawless forward display, backed up by 22 points from Handri(C) Pollard in a 32-12 win.

Eddie Jones's side spent much of the game within a converted try of taking the lead but could not get on the front foot, before South Africa's backs sprung into life with 12 minutes to go. Mapimpi first completed a flowing move for his sixth try of the tournament - and his nation's first in a World Cup final - and Kolbe added another as the scoreline pulled out.
