Giants' Shepard re-enters concussion protocol, will miss MNF
New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard won't play Monday night versus the Dallas Cowboys after re-entering the concussion protocol, the team announced Sunday.
Shepard cleared the protocol Friday, but his concussion symptoms returned Saturday evening.
"He practiced fully this week and was limited with no contact the two weeks before that," Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said. "He told (Sr. VP Medical Services/Head Athletic Trainer) Ronnie (Barnes) last evening (Saturday) he didn't feel well and was sent for examination and evaluation. When he arrived for work this morning, he still did not feel well. At that point, the decision was made to continue in the concussion protocol."
The fourth-year wideout suffered the concussion in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings. It was his second of the season and he'll miss his fourth straight game as a result.
Shepard has caught 25 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown in four starts this season.
