NFL Hall of Famer and former Florida State legend Deion Sanders has emerged as a candidate to be the Seminoles' next head coach, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported.

Sanders is currently an NFL Network analyst.

The eight-time Pro Bowler was an All-American cornerback at Florida State in the 1980s and won the Jim Thorpe Award in 1988, given to the nation's top defensive back. Sanders was the fifth overall pick of the 1989 NFL Draft.

Considered one of the best corners of all time, "Prime Time" was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 after a dazzling 14-year career.

Sanders has coached high school football for several years and also opened Prime Prep Academy in 2012 before it shut down in 2015.

Florida State fired head coach Willie Taggart on Nov. 3 after he went 9-12 at the helm.
