Antonio Brown isn't expected to play again this season barring a "significant turn of events," sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The free-agent wide receiver is reportedly scheduled to meet with the NFL this week regarding the league's investigations into multiple accusations of sexual assault against him.

However, Brown has failed to give the NFL the evidence it has requested to gain a broader understanding of his case, reports Schefter.

Drew Rosenhaus, Brown's agent, quickly responded to the report that his client is likely done for the year.

"I'm confident Antonio will play again this season," Rosenhaus told Schefter. "I believe the NFL should clear him after they interview him this week and I expect he will be signed shortly after that."

Brown also tweeted his own reaction to Schefter's report:

Retweet if u want me back in @nfl like if I should wait til 2020 !!!!!

The 31-year-old blasted the league on social media Thursday shortly after news of his meeting was reported, saying he'll never play again. He also accused the NFL of racial discrimination.

Brown quickly backtracked from those comments, attributing his outburst to "false allegations and slander" making him "very frustrated."

Three teams have reportedly been in contact with Brown, but the NFL would be prepared to place the wideout on the commissioner's exempt list if signed, adds Schefter.

Moreover, a team would be required to pay Brown until the investigation is completed, and it might not end until after the season.
