K3b won't burn CD-R

K3b used to work great for me ripping and burning CDs. Then with doing a clean install of my distro I had to re-install K3b and now it rips fine but won't burn the cd. I went to the settings and could not figure out what they meant by "modify device settings." Any suggestions? Thanks.
