Problem with pulseaudio equalizer
by kenb1000 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4VCTE)
I need to have more control of the sound on my 5 year-old Dell Inspiron 15 laptop running Mint 19. So I installed pulseaudio equalizer. The problem I'm having is that changing the bands on the EQ has no effect on the sound.
I tried doing a search for troubleshooting this issue but came up with nothing. I found one site that refers to a "EQ Enabled" box but that box doesn't appear in the equalizer GUI or in the pulseaudio volume control. I have a feeling something went wrong with the installation. The Dell has a Realtek ALC3223 soundcard.
I also noticed that on the ArchLinux Wiki page for pulseaudio it contains the following caveat: "Warning: PulseAudio equalizer module is considered unstable and might be removed from PulseAudio." This appears to be a fairly old warning.
Is there a solution or should I just abandon ship on this?
Thanks.
