Samba 4 advise

Hi all
Doing some testing with samba 4 on ubuntu 18.04 (newbie at this bit). All installed ok and have a windows 10 added to the domain no problem and mapped drive added using the rsat mmc stuff.
The issue I seem to be having is with group policy applying. I can browse ok so no problem there. I have setup a password policy on the default domain using rsat tools but it does not seem to work. If I run GPRESULT /H GPResult.html on the windows machine I can see the policy in there but says denied due to being empty but it's clearly not.
After suing the rsat tools to make the changes I can browse to sysvol and check that the data is updated and time stamp is correct. Not really sure how to debug this to be honest. I have also tried to use the samba-tool domain passwordsettings to set the same settings but these don't take affect ethier.
