[SOLVED] I switched my grandmother to Slackware... any suggestions?

Hello,
My grandmother's Apple computer died so I gave her one of my extra laptops and installed Slackware on it. we live in the same house so it is easy to give her technical support but I was wondering if anyone on here had any suggestions for how I can make Slackware as easy for her to use as possible.
I already have it setup so that when she logs into her computer it boots into xfce instead of a tty and I have made some changes to her xfce desktop to make it somewhat similar to macOs which is what she is used to.
What should I do to maintain her computer? should I setup automatic update scripts and upgrade the kernel myself through ssh when there is an important security update? or should I take a different approach. I am open to suggestions.
I installed Slackware because it is the most stable option I have come across and I think both my grandmother and I agree that stability is important. I also tested Elementary OS and the laptop that I am having my grantmother use didn't work very well with it (strange flickering/dancing graphics and X sometimes not starting up and a flashing screen). Slackware 14.2 seems to work very, very well on that laptop so I think I would like to stick with Slackware if at all possible.
