Report: Lockett expected to play after MNF injury due to aid from 49ers
It looks like Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett won't miss any game action despite being hospitalized with a shin bruise. And he has an unlikely ally to thank.
Lockett is expected to play in the Seahawks' Week 12 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles after receiving help in his rehab process from the division-rival San Francisco 49ers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The 27-year-old wideout was hospitalized for two nights due to swelling caused by a lower leg contusion he suffered in Week 10 during Monday Night Football against San Francisco. While in the hospital after the game, he reportedly requested a Game Ready device, which is a high-end compression therapy unit used to accelerate recovery. However, the hospital didn't have the device.
Lockett then asked if the Niners could provide a Game Ready to aid him in his rehab. After a call from his agent to members of the team's front office, San Fransico's training staff brought him the device Tuesday morning. It's unknown if Lockett would've recovered so quickly without the assistance, Rapoport notes.
"(Lockett) did well at practice. He's ready to go," head coach Pete Carroll said Friday.
Seattle, coming off its Week 11 bye, will battle the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Lockett has posted 62 catches, 793 yards, and six touchdowns through 10 games in 2019.
