Botched boot after upgrading a fresh install

Like the proverbial bad penny...the noob returns :-)
I managed to install slack with grub on my efi system and for all intents and purposes, everything seemed to be in order. I was reading some documentation on what to do once I got slack up and running. Choosing a repository mirror, upgrading everything, etc.
I won't lie, I know I'm in way over my head but I'm soldiering on, regardless. I watched a few videos from a gentleman named Mike Murphy on youtube, who gives a *very* detailed step by step process on how to install slack with efi and grub. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be having the troubles I'm having now, because I never would have managed the install, let alone a botched boot after upgrading said install. I've done this install twice so far. Once with only the drive I installed slack to being attached. Everything worked fine, grub popped up and let me boot without a problem. The second time I installed, I left my ubuntu drive connected as well. Everything went fine. Grub saw both slack and ubuntu.

Then, I upgraded using the slackware for beginners documentation (pic included). After doing so, I ended up with this error when I went to boot up again (pic also included). Not sure if it's pertinent concerning this issue but I essentially got the same error when I tried to choose ubuntu from the grub list (not really concerned about ubuntu, though...I can boot it from it's own place in my bios list. That's about it. Sorry for all the aimless rambling :-/
