Unzip has problems with Firefox 70 - omni.ja
by LenHoff from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4VV2X)
Using Mozilla's own Fx 70.0.1 in Mint 18.1.
I'm not sure if this is a bug issue in Unzip (I have v6-20ubuntu1).
I saw a bug on the Unzip Debian bug tracker about it complaining & sometimes had errors opening Mozilla's specialized zip file.
The devs said the issue was fixed - I think v6-21 (that was Debian). I haven't found that version for Ubuntu. Maybe I could try the Debian version. So much for backporting bug fixes.
Unzip did complain about some extra bytes at the file beginning (trying to compensate).
It seems to open part of omni.ja. The omni.ja packed size in Fx 70 is smaller than in Fx 69 (appears).
I had an extracted copy from Fx 69 & properties of the root dir shows: 4,417 items, totaling 91.2 MB.
Unzipped omni.ja from Fx 70, root dir shows: 1,559 items, totaling 43.0 MB.
That's a huge diff in # of items.
It seems? to only be extracting part of the files.
Based on earlier versions, I know the path to tree-icons.css, that has a lot of rules for the bookmark library.
But the path doesn't exist in the unzipped omni.ja from Fx 70. Many of the folders & files present in unzipped v69 are missing in v70.
Another reason I think it's partly failing. If I type into Fx (70) address bar the path where the file should be, it FINDS & displays the file, even though the path & file don't exist in Nemo. Using Gnome Commander search confirms the file isn't in the extracted data.
So the file & path exists in the compressed omni.ja in Fx 70's program directory (or else it wouldn't find the file), but isn't in the extracted folders / files - using Unzip.
Any ideas or concerns about trying a version from somewhere other than Mint's repo?
