Installing zip / compressed program files

I have installed Debian 10 and I want to install an anti-virus. I download installation file and get a folder e.g. cav-linux_x64.deb. On clicking I have various options including 1. Open with Archive Manager 2. Extract Here.
Option 1: Shows control & data.tar.gz with Extract icon in top left hand corner. Selecting a gz file right click gives a. Open, b. Open With, c. Extract
a.Open folder . Extract icon. Options to Open / Extract
Open = 7 text files Extract = nothing
c.Extract = window shades and will only close after pressing Esc key
Tried downloading clamtk-master.zip. Right click same options as before
Option 1 = folder clamtk-master Extract Icon as before. Select file = Open / Extract
Open = various folders & files including clamtk.1.gz Gzip archive. Open = text file. Extract as c.Extract above
How do I install either of the two packages??
In general how do I install a zip file in Debian?
