SSD / HDD HP Laptop Install/Network Problems

Just got a new HP Laptop with an SSD and a HDD.
I tried to install Ubuntu 19.04 (via thumb drive) on the SSD and it appears it is installed on the SSD (I think). Windows is on the SSD.
However Linux cannot find a network adaptor while wifi works fine on Windows.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!
