Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper could target executives from his old team as he remodels his new club.

It's believed that Tepper, a former minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is looking to land Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and/or vice president of football and business administration Omar Khan, sources informed ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Colbert is in the final season of his contract with Pittsburgh. He's spent 20 years as the Steelers' GM. In that time, the team has gone 204-110 and won two Super Bowls.

Colbert also owns a home in South Carolina.

Carolina's current GM, Marty Hurney, was brought aboard in 2017 in an interim role before he was given the full-time position in 2018.

Tepper said this week that he plans to retain Hurney, though it may be in a different role.

"Marty Hurney is one of the best recognizers of college talent in the nation. Period," he said. "I don't want to lose that. And he's also not a bad manager."
