Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill admitted he misled medical staff during the team's Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, telling them he'd hurt his shoulder when he'd actually suffered a concussion.

"I just basically lied to them," Grugier-Hill said Thursday, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

"I thought it would just go away. Just didn't really say anything about it. It got to the point where I really couldn't lie to them anymore."

The injury happened on the first play from scrimmage, yet Grugier-Hill played more than 50 snaps during the remainder of the contest, according to Zangaro.

Four days later, he was placed in concussion protocol and missed the team's Week 14 contest against the New York Giants.

Grugier-Hill was asked Thursday if he regretted his decision.

"No," he said. "I mean, I wish we would have at least got a win."

The admission got back to Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who denounced his player's actions on Friday.

"Very disappointing to me as a head coach. ... One guy who made a bad decision, a bad choice," Pederson said, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. "Had he gotten hit again in that game, who knows what could have happened."

Pederson added that it was "a little bit of a selfish act."
