Chrome Very Slow/Freezing After Recent Mint Update
by Kernie from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WHE6)
A few days ago I updated Mint 19.2 Xfce and now Chrome runs agonizingly slow. When I go to a page, the browser will usually freeze for 15-20 seconds and the loading indicator in the top browser tab stops during that period of time. It does the same thing when I change pages in Chrome's Settings.
Firefox loads and runs quickly and Chrome worked fine with the prior version, so I doubt that it's an issue with the computer. The current version of Chrome I'm using is 79.0.3945.79 (Official Build, 64 bit). I tried disabling all extensions and Hardware Acceleration but that didn't help.
I suppose I could "downgrade" to the previous Chrome version. I have never had to do that before, but I'm not sure what else to try :(.
