My (relevant) hardware:
Windows.
"Recovery mode" of currently installed distro (Xubuntu) selected from GRUB bootloader. Main difference between them being:
What I've tried:
Does anyone have any steps that I could take to get Linux working on this system?
EDIT: This happens to me on other distro's as well. Solus stopped working for me when I installed my new GPU too. I assume it's related to my setup, and some weird setting. But I'm waaay out of my depth.
Also added missing info about seeing a splash-screen (underlined and italic)


- i7 4790k
- AMD RX 5700XT
- MSI Z97M Gaming

What I've tried:
- Installing various versions of Code:amdgpu'
- Installing Code:intel-microcode
- Toggling Virtualization in BIOS
