Update Desktop and Laptop

I run a desktop and laptop on LM19.1 and update both separately. Is there any way to 'copy' the update file from the desktop to the laptop? Both systems are on a WiFi network with a NAS.
Alternatively, can I just maintain one copy of LM on the NAS and boot both systems from there?
