random settings change

My mouse cursors changed even though I did nothing to change it.
My keyboard layout changed, even though I did nothing to change it.
My mouse scrolling setting changed even though I did nothing to change it.
I set the keyboard map to dvorak and reverse scrolling in xorg.conf. So, why should it revert to qwerty and "normal" scrolling without any input from me?
And where do I set the mouse cursor? I have no recollection how I did it. I'm using fluxbox.
Google searches have come up with nothing.
