Laptop w/RAID why?
by BW-userx from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WJEM)
what are the benefits of having a raid set up on a laptop, and how do I set that up?
do I have to reinstall everything?
1/Win10
2/Linux
3/FreeBSD
how many hard drives are needed? I only ask because I've never done this before, my BIOS says it has RAID support, and I thought raid is a set of drives set aside that are mirrors of the HDD in use, just split up across an array of drives so it can replace any missing files. If the running HDD goes bad. if one dirve on raid goes bad the others hold enough information on files that it can figure out what is missing then replace that file in its entirety.
that is my basic understanding of it. I'm more in the curious stage of this at the moment.
