Report: Panthers inquired about Hall
The Florida Panthers inquired about the services of pending unrestricted free-agent forward Taylor Hall, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
The Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche are also in the running for the former Hart Trophy winner, LeBrun added.
Hall has tallied 25 points in 30 games for the New Jersey Devils this season, who have the second-worst record in the NHL.
The Panthers have just $517,494 in cap space, according to CapFriendly, so general manager Dale Tallon would have to get creative in order to accommodate Hall and his $6-million average annual value. The Devils can retain up to 50% of Hall's salary, and defenseman Mark Pysyk ($2.73M AAV) could be a candidate to head the other way.
Florida is in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 35 points after a busy offseason that was geared toward making the club a Stanley Cup contender.
