Bucs' Arians on Barrett's pending free agency: 'He ain't going anywhere'
Linebacker Shaq Barrett is a standout name among the NFL's potential free agents next offseason. But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't want to lose their breakout defender.
After the Bucs' Week 15 matchup against the Detroit Lions, head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that the 27-year-old would stay in Tampa Bay.
"He ain't going anywhere," Arians said Sunday, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.
Barrett expressed confidence that he would remain a member of the Bucs.
"I think I will be here for sure. ... I like it here. They like me here," he said, per Auman.
Barrett signed a one-year, $4-million contract with Tampa Bay in March. He previously spent five campaigns with the Broncos after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
The pass rusher entered Week 15 leading the NFL in sacks (15.5). He added another sack, along with five tackles and two quarterback hits, in the Buccaneers' 38-17 victory over the Lions on Sunday.
