Vikings' Cook ruled out, backup Mattison questionable vs. Packers
The Minnesota Vikings could be severely shorthanded in their backfield for Monday night's divisional clash with the Green Bay Packers.
As reportedly expected, Dalvin Cook will be sidelined for the game due to a shoulder injury, the team announced on Saturday.
Additionally, Cook's primary backup, Alexander Mattison, is questionable with an ankle injury. The rookie was testing his ankle in individual drills during Saturday's practice, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Pioneer Press.
If Mattison can't play, the Vikings will go into the crucial rivalry game with a backfield of Ameer Abdullah, Mike Boone, and fullback C.J. Ham.
Minnesota reportedly could sit Cook, who has also dealt with a chest issue, until the playoffs to keep him healthy.
