EFI install using non-GPT partitions (-current)
by bifferos from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WY92)
When I try to run setup on an EFI system without any EFI partitions there's a nice warning pointing this out.
If I create an EFI partition with fdisk instead of gdisk I get no such warning, the install runs and completes, setup points out that it's not going to install LILO but ELILO instead, but the ELILO setup step never happens and I'm left with an unbootable system.
I'm trying to find the documentation that says I should expect this.
Wikipedia seems to think MBR partition tables are supported:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFI_system_partition
Which says:
"Both GPT- and MBR-partitioned disks can contain an EFI system partition,"
Is this an ELILO limitation or something else going on?
