Mate desktop: Mail notification in panel?

Hi,

I'm looking for a mail notifcation program which can check a gmail imap account and show the number of unread emails in the notification area (where the volume , language, etc. indicators are).

I've combed the packages list but couldn't find something for the Mate desktop.

Any suggestions?.
