Canon MX920 series won't connect to wifi

SETUP: LinuxMint 19.2 (64 bit), Canon MX922, CUPS 2.2.7
Drivers: standard LinuxMint MX922 (auto-installed via USB connection to printer) plus installed canon-supplied packages:
cnijfilter-common_3.90-1_amd64.deb
cnijfilter-mx920series_3.90-1_amd64.deb

SYMPTOMS:
MX922 prints perfectly when connected via USB cable
CUPS (via localhost:631) sees the printer
Wifi connection works to see internet; MX922 prints via wifi from a separate Win7 laptop
When USB cable is disconnected and a "Print Test Page" or a sample page is attempted to print, PRINT JOB FAILS with message, 'Idle - "File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.2" not available: No such file or directory'
Checking the file system, that error is correct - that filter file is not in that directory.
I downloaded "gutenprint-5.3.3.tar.xz (only version I saw), and that package is in my Downloads subdirectory - but I don't know how to unzip/install a "xz" package, or if this will correct the problem.
Any help would be appreciated!latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=pHRtah40fc8:REPkANsOkH4:F7zBnMy latest?i=pHRtah40fc8:REPkANsOkH4:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=pHRtah40fc8:REPkANsOkH4:gIN9vFwpHRtah40fc8
