debian laptop WOL lid closed HDMI login grey screen
by linux6 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4XS0W)
I have an HP Elitebook with Debian 9. I use WOL to start the laptop with its lid closed. It is attached to a TV via HDMI cable. When the laptop starts I get startup messages on the TV. Then I get a blank grey screen instead of a login screen. If I lift the lid then the login screen appears on both the laptop screen and the TV. Since I have 2 accounts on the laptop it is hard to know which account is selected for login. Is there a way to force Linux to output the login screen to HDMI output? After I login there are no additional HDMI problems.
