Distro Longevity

So this is a bit of a silly post but it bugs me so throwing it out there to get opinions. For whatever reason, I bounce back and forth between non-systemd Linux distros and FreeBSD. I do this because of 2 reasons: I absolutely love FreeBSD and I worry that the non-systemd distro I normally use (Void) will just up and disappear one day because it has a small team.

So, I'll use FreeBSD for a few months, then start to miss Steam and some of my games running in wine so switch back to Void Linux. Everything runs perfectly - system is fast, games work, all other software I use works. After a few months I get worried that systemd is eating the planet and there will be kernel hooks put in place or some other nonsense and non-systemd distros will not be able to function so I'll switch back to FreeBSD and the cycle repeats itself.

It is more me getting inside my own head more than anything probably. Are my fears/worry justified in using a non-systemd Linux distro? I know there are a ton of Slackware users here that are quite comfortable with their choice so obviously they don't share the same trepidation I do about the rug being pulled out from under them. Since I am sure it will come up, I don't really want to use Slackware; nothing against it, I just have had bad experiences with it. I am not totally opposed to it per se, so may consider it as a last resort.

I am not trying to turn this into a systemd discussion, I just don't like it and don't want to use a distro based on it. Slackware folks can certainly relate to this I am sure.

Are my fears in keeping a long running non-systemd Linux install justified or am I just worrying needlessly?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=4Fsj1Esa5CY:80pI3rgZvD8:F7zBnMy latest?i=4Fsj1Esa5CY:80pI3rgZvD8:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=4Fsj1Esa5CY:80pI3rgZvD8:gIN9vFw4Fsj1Esa5CY
