Hello all. I have been a linux home user for 10+ years and have played around with setting up my own media servers, email servers, etc over the years. I deployed an ubuntu server running on an old laptop to run nextcloud at the lab I worked in to convince everyone of the value of having an onsite NAS, and that convinced my boss to invest in a Synology NAS.
I have been working in agricultural research for over ten years and still have nothing to show for it. It is a small field with more qualified people than jobs so the pay is abysmal. I kept thinking that if I kept paying my dues, then it would pay off eventually. Silly me.
I had a roommate years ago that tried to talk me into switching careers but I resisted the idea. I think I am ready to seriously think about switching careers now.
I was wondering, to the extent that there are any working professionals here, what would be a good way to break into the industry with the eventual goal of being a linux sysadmin? Should I start with the CompTIA A+ and go down the line of traditional certifications before getting linux sysadmin specific credentials? And how difficult is it to get that first linux sysadmin job?
Sorry if this isn't really the place for this but I appear to be locked out of 'general'latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=GBOzmMkJ2uo:lu-fRVukyqs:F7zBnMy latest?i=GBOzmMkJ2uo:lu-fRVukyqs:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=GBOzmMkJ2uo:lu-fRVukyqs:gIN9vFwGBOzmMkJ2uo
