Half-Life series free to play leading up to Alyx launch

While Valve still can't count to three, a new Half-Life game is nonetheless on its way. Half-Life Alyx is set to release in March of this year. The new game is a VR exclusive, which unfortunately means most games don't have the necessary equipment to play it. That said, those who purchase the new Valve Index headset or controllers will get the game for free. It'll be exciting to see how Valve takes advantage of its new finger-tracking controllers in a full title of its own.

As we await the game's release, Valve has made the whole Half-Life series free to play on Steam. If you don't own the entire series and haven't played it all, now is the time to do so. This deal ends the day Half-Life: Alyx launches in March. Those who plan to play Half-Life: Alyx should at least play the first Half-Life, as Alyx is set between the first and second. The full suite of games available for free are as follows:
