Home-testing browsers

I would like to actually test a bunch of browsers on this machine, rather than just guessing which works better.

Can someone direct me to either downloadable apps or live websites that can help me here?
Or suggestions?

Everything I've found so far seems to be about testing how individual websites handle browsers, not about the browsers themselves.
