The 22-year-old recorded nine sacks in his first season, helping the 49ers reach this weekend's Super Bowl. His older brother Joey also won the award in 2016.
The Ohio State product played in every game this season while also notching 47 total tackles, two passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble.
His 60 quarterback pressures were more than any other two rookies combined, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
Bosa appeared to be the final piece for a 49ers defense that ranked second in yards allowed per game in 2019 (281.8) and tied for fifth in sacks (48).
San Francisco used the second overall pick in 2019 to select Bosa. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo later said tearing his ACL in 2018 was a "blessing in disguise" as that contributed to the Niners landing the high pick.
"We got Bosa out of it. That's a pretty good trade-off, I guess," said Garoppolo.
