CapsLock keys light in unison

There's a strange effect I've noticed. I normally use an external mechanical keyboard (yay Gateron) connected to my laptops. Whenever I tap on the CapsLock key on either the external on the laptop keyboard that is connected to my Toshiba running Linux, or the Toshiba laptop keyboard's CapsLock, both keyboards CapsLock lights go on or off in unison.
Could this be the final clue that we're living in a simulation like Scott Adams says?
Or it is just software being software?
BTW this doesn't happen when I connect my external to a Mac laptop running MacOS, so I know it is just a Linux thing.
