Twitter can't understand why 49ers didn't call timeout before halftime
Kyle Shanahan's clock-management skills came under question before halftime of Super Bowl LIV.
With the score tied 10-10 near the end of the first half, the San Francisco 49ers stopped the Kansas City Chiefs on third down. But Shanahan opted not to call one of his three remaining timeouts, allowing the Chiefs to burn nearly 40 seconds before his team got the ball back with 59 seconds left in the half.
Shanahan could have called the timeout at 1:47. Now, the 49ers are going to get the ball at the 25 with 59 seconds left

So, did Kyle Shanahan just decide to punt on the final 1:30 of this half and wait for the second-half kickoff? This makes subzero sense.

Shanahan's boss, general manager John Lynch, didn't appear to agree with his decision.

The 49ers could have used those precious seconds. They reached their own 45-yard line with 20 seconds left in the half. But after later taking a timeout, a big play was called back and San Francisco was forced to kneel to end the half.
