Not able to download the EPIC browser.

Hi All,
I'm considering moving to a Linux environment, away from MAC (disillusioned with latest versions) and so am testing various Distros to see which I like the most. First, with ones that have an interface most like a MAC, starting with Ubuntu Budgie and Deepin. Both within a Fusion VM.
Installed both with no problem so wanted to use my personal preference of a browser - EPIC.
Had to use Chrome of course, but in both versions failed to get any file downloaded anywhere. Scratched my head and thought OK, lets try something else. No problems trying to load anything else, all went into 'Downloads.
Anyone had the same problem?
