File sharing server on linux authenticated by Active directory users
by fawaz25 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4YY3K)
Dear All,
I need to setup a file share server on linux (centos or any other flavor).
The users must authenticate to the file share using Windows Active directory username and password.
How can I implement this? I have seen some tutorials regarding SAMBA to achieve the same. But is it the best way to do it ?? and will it be OK if I do that in production environment?? or is it better to use windows itself as the file sharing server. Because in windows it is much simpler. What is the best approach to do it?
Just need an advice as we are planning to do this in our environment. We already have windows file share production server, and was thinking to setup a separate second file share server on linux (which will be Azure cloud file share that we will connect to the VM and use it as a file share).
Please advice.
