Can only start KDE as root after installing Alien Bob's ktown-repository
by Fission Chips from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4Z3XT)
I installed a fresh Slackware 14.2 and wanted to add the Plasma 5 and other new goodies from Alien Bob's ktown repository, so I upgraded using the instructions here.
Everything goes smooth when installing but when I try to start x after login, the screen freezes. After the second attempt to install everything correctly, I tried right away as root and the desktop loaded nicely. So I logged right back out to log in with the user to start playing with it, but with the user the screen crashes again (I'm kicked out of the shell)
At first I thought it must be an a problem with X, but I can start fluxbox with no problem running
Code:$ echo fluxbox >> .xinitrc
$ start xI can also change the runtime level as root using Code:# telinit 4and then log in as user. But I cannot startx as user from the shell login
Anybody know what to do? Thanks for any help.
